Facilities > Classrooms > 614 Schermerhorn 614 Schermerhorn is one of two electronic classrooms on the 600 level of Schermerhorn. This large lecture room with seating for 123 students can handle most multimedia applications. The instructor's equipment is enclosed in a stationary metal cabinet.
The equipment available to the instructor includes a ceiling-mounted Eiki projector. Video is displayed on an eight foot (120" diagonal) pull-down screen. The podium contains the various electronic resources available to the instructor. These include a PowerMac G5, a VCR, a DVD player, and dual slide projectors. The PowerMac has a built-in DVD/CD-ROM drive and an Ethernet network connection for digital presentations. A room customized Crestron touchpanel controls the multimedia experience including, the audio visual equipment, slide projectors supplied by Columbia's Art History Department, and the physical room enviroment (lights and speech/program volume). The system utilizes an audio amplifier that powers 8 JBL speakers located at the front, middle and ceiling of the classroom. A wireless microphone system is housed within the electronic podium.
