Summary:
The Main Economic Indicators (MEI) complete database starts with data from
1955. It includes main economic indicators covering a wide range of
areas, such as quarterly national accounts, business surveys, retail
sales, industrial production, construction, consumer prices, total
employment, unemployment rates, interest rates, money and domestic
finance, foreign finance, foreign trade, and balance of payments. Data are
expressed in different measures.

Key short-term indicators
This dataset includes key indicators in growth rates and levels
covering a wide range of areas, such as quarterly national accounts,
business surveys, retail sales, industrial production, construction,
consumer prices, total employment, unemployment rates, interest rates,
money and domestic finance, foreign finance, foreign trade and balance of
payments.
Balance of payments
This dataset includes current account: goods, services, income and
current transfers. Data are expressed in millions of national currency and
US dollars.
Business tendency and consumer opinion surveys
This dataset includes manufacturing and construction industry,
retail trade, services industries, non-manufacturing industries and
consumer opinions on economic situation, confidence indicators and
inflation.
Composite leading indicators
Finance
This dataset includes financial statistics on five separate
subjects: monetary aggregates, interest rates, exchange rates, reserve
assets, and share prices. Data are expressed in different measures.
International trade
This dataset includes exports, imports, balance and world trade
statistics. Data are expressed in billions of US dollars.
Labor
This database includes data on unit labour cost, hourly earnings,
labour force and registered unemployed and job vacancies.
Price indices
This dataset includes two separate subjects: consumer prices and
producer prices. Consumer prices includes all items, food, energy,
housing. Producer prices includes total industrial product and
manufacturing products. Data are expressed in index 2005=100 or
percentages.
Production and sales (from 1919)
This dataset includes industrial statistics on four separate subjects:
production; sales; orders and work started. Data are expressed in index
2005=100 or tons.
