This tip is for those who encounter the error, Unable to expand archive .....Engine Error Damaged Content, when using Stuffit to open a zipped file.

In most cases you need to EXPLORE the zipped file rather than open it.

To explore a zipped file:

• Navigate to the folder that contains the zipped file.
  If you have just downloaded it, it means bypassing the option to open the file from the download window.

 

• Right click on the name of the zipped file and, from the options that appear, THEN

 

• Click on "Explore." This will open a window that that shows the contents (files) contained in the zipped archive.

 

• Drag each component from the explore window.
  Drag each to the window where the original zipped file is displayed or to some other folder.

 

• StuffIt will now open the individual components just by clicking on the file name.
