Catalogs and Archives
- Spatial Data
This is a list of resources that provide data with spatial coordinates that make the data ready to use in GIS software applications. This list includes data that has been acquired by Columbia as well as key Internet sources. These resources often have socio-demographic attribute data that would be useful not just with GIS software but in any type of analysis. Most of these resources are not listed in DataGate. - DataGate
This is Columbia's own data catalog. Entries comprise bibliographic information, an abstract, subject keywords, and information about how to obtain the study which is often a link to the location of the study. In addition to the many data studies acquired individually either commercially or from the federal government, all titles in the following archives are also listed in DataGate:-
Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research
(ICPSR)
ICPSR is a vast archive of social science data for research and instruction. Columbia users can search and download studies directly from their site or search in our DataGate catalog to find studies in the ICPSR collection. Although most DataGate entries for ICPSR studies will link directly to ICPSR for downloading, some ICPSR studies are stored locally to provide for formats more suited to our users. Note: first-time users must register (chose a password that is different from the one you use at Columbia). -
Social Science Electronic Data Library (SSEDL)
The Social Science Electronic Data Library (SSEDL) is an extensive health and social science resource covering topics like family, AIDS, child wellbeing, aging, pregnancy, and maternal drug abuse. -
