- Classroom Instruction
EDS staff will come to a class room session or host groups in EDS to speak about our collections and services. These sessions can be a general overview of EDS or specific to parts or our collection that apply to a particular course. Requests should be sent to eds@columbia.edu.
- EDS Brochure
For instructors who wish to inform their students of our services but who cannot spare class time for a guest speaker, they can distribute the EDS brochure in class.
- Web Guides and Documentation
In addition to being available to answer individual user questions, either by email (eds@columbia.edu) or by visiting EDS, we a have prepared a number of web-based guides to topics of particular interest to our users.
GIS
- GIS Workshops
EDS offers a series of GIS workshops that introduce users to GIS and provide a forum for discussing GIS-related questions. This is an ongoing program.
- ESRI Virtual Campus
ESRI products include ArcView and ArcGIS. Free online tutorials covering these products are available to Columbia users at the ESRI Virtual Campus.
- Web guides and Documentation
In addtion to web guides, ESRI manuals are available in EDS. Assistance with GIS or spatial data is available in EDS or be email, eds@columbia.edu

This site lists training provided by other groups within Columbia.
Statistical Software
- User support
Either in EDS or by email, eds@columbia.edu, staff will assist users in:
- getting their data into the format they need for analysis,
- work with manuals to understand program language syntax.

These relate to the above types of support provided by EDS.
- Training Aids
There are options for self-guide tutorials in: SAS, SPSS, and Stata.EDS does not provide consulting relating to statistical methodology. Statistical consulting is available in the Statistics Department or from ISERP.
