608 Schermerhorn: Electronic Podium
Room 608 Schermerhorn is one of two electronic classrooms on the 600 level of Schermerhorn. This lecture room with seating for 35 students can handle most multimedia applications. The instructor's equipment is enclosed in a rolling wooden cabinet, providing some flexibility in how the equipment is positioned.
Instructor's Electronic Podium
The equipment availbale to the instructor includes a ceiling-mounted Eiki projector, which can accept VGA and video inputs. Video is displayed on an eight foot (120" diagonal) pull-down screen. The podium contains the various electronic resources available to the instructor. These include a Powermac G4, a VCR, a DVD/CD player, and a document camera. The Powermac has a built-in CD-Rom drive, zip drive and an ethernet network connection for digital presentations.
A room customized Crestron touchpanel controls the multimedia experience including the audio-visual equipment and the physical room environment (lights/program volume).
The system utilizes an audio amplifier that powers two Optimus speakers located at the front of the classroom.
