Facilities > Labs > 251 Engineering Terrace/Gussman Lab The 251 Engineering Terrace and Gussman Labs is equipped with 80 state-of-the-art Dell Optiplex 270 Pentium 4 workstations and 6 powerful PowerMac G5 workstations. These high-speed workstations bring an advanced level of computing performance to the entire campus community. The machines are configured with powerful applications including Mathematica, Matlab, Stata, and Microsoft Office. They also come with X Windows support which provides convenient access to our Solaris CUNIX development environment for Solaris programming and tools, Java and C++ development. A high-performance network has also been installed to give these workstations optimum access to on-campus and off-campus information resources. Every workstation connects via 1000BaseT (1,000 megabit/second or 1 Gigabit/second) switched Ethernet, and the entire lab complex is connected to our high-speed campus network via a multi-gigabit uplink. Three high-speed printers are available in the lab, and consulting staff is available during all scheduled lab hours. Wireless networking and additional wired network Ethernet jacks are also available to support users who wish to bring laptops to the lab.
