Facilities > Labs > Accessibility in CUIT Computer Labs and Clusters Students with Mobility or R.S.I. Disabilities The following computing facilities are equipped with accessible furniture, which places the computer on adjustable height furniture, which separate adjustable keyboard height. The furniture provdes accessibility to students with different needs, including those who use wheelchairs or have repetitive stress injury (R.S.I.).
Several facilities are equipped with headphones for individuals who are hearing disabled; 213A Butler is open 24 hours, and headphones are attached to every computer. CUIT also provides assistive listening devices in many electronic classrooms, and can lend out amplifications systems to students on a semester basis. On public access workstations, CUIT also provides accessibility options to supplement computer auditory feedback with visual feedback. Students with Visual or Learning Disabilities CUIT provides assistance for students with visual disabilities in several ways. Public access workstations are equipped with accessibility options for visually or learning disabled users, including magnification and auditory feedback. Windows 2000 users may use the accessibility control panel to adjust sound, mouse use, keyboard use and general functions. On Windows 2000 machines, the Accessibility Control Panel is found in the Accessability folder off the Start Menu. Also, Lynx, Pine and MM are available to provide web and email access. Lab Assistants CUIT staffs certain computer labs with part-time consultants, called UIs. CUIT staff can provide assistance in identifying solutions to particular needs, and can assist with station setup, printing, and software troubleshooting. Computer consultants are located in 213 Butler, 323 IAB, and 251 Engineering Terrace. Check the lab schedules to find out when the consultants are on duty. CUIT Contact Information
