If there is a Rolm jack with two sides, plug the phone into the "voice" (left) side of the jack. In shared rooms there is usually a four-prong Rolm jack. The upper two are for phones. The lower two jacks (usually orange) are for Ethernet connections. Plug the phone into the upper left side of the jack.
