How do I setup DHCP on my Windows 2000 system?


In order to configure Windows 2000 for Ethernet at Columbia you must install and properly configure the correct protocols.
  1. Click Start button and select Settings and Network and Dial-up Connections
  2. Right click on the Local Area Connection icon and select Properties
  3. You are now in the Local Area Connection properties setup window. Highlight Internet Protocol(TCP/IP), scroll down if necessary to view the appropriate protocol.
  4. Having selected Internet Protocol(TCP/IP), click on the Properties button. This will bring up the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) Properties window.
  5. Select Obtain an IP address automatically, and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Click OK
  6. Close the Network and Dial Up Connections window by Clicking OK. To activate your changes restart your computer.
