How do I setup DHCP on my Windows 2000 system?
In order to
configure Windows 2000 for Ethernet at Columbia you must install and properly configure the correct protocols.
- Click Start button and select Settings and Network and Dial-up Connections
- Right click on the Local Area Connection icon and select Properties
- You are now in the Local Area Connection properties setup window. Highlight Internet Protocol(TCP/IP), scroll down if necessary to view the appropriate protocol.
- Having selected Internet Protocol(TCP/IP), click on the Properties button. This will bring up the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) Properties window.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically, and Obtain DNS server address automatically. Click OK
- Close the Network and Dial Up Connections window by Clicking OK. To activate your changes restart your computer.
