How do I hide the recipients when sending email?

It is possible to hide the recipients when sending messages to more than one person. You use the "Bcc" (blind carbon copy) field to hold your list of addresses instead of the "To" or "Cc" fields. Addresses inserted in the Bcc field are not displayed to the recipients of a message.

To do this in Pine, move the cursor into the header area of the message you're composing, and press control-r for "Rich Headers." This will give you a Bcc field. Insert the addresses of your recipients there.

It is also possible to do this in various email programs such as Netscape and Outlook Express.

For Thunderbird: While composing a message, you may use the drop-down field labeled "To" and choose to "BCC."

For Outlook Express: While composing a message, go to View -> All Headers.

For Outlook Professional: While composing a message, put the addresses in the "Bcc" field.

For Cubmail: While composing a new message, put the addresses in the "Bcc" field.

For MacOS X Mail: While composing a new message, put the addresses in the "Bcc" field.
