NetFlow records are gathered from our border routers. These records are basically the packet headers from all traffic across these routers.

We built a tool on top of CAIDA's cflowd (http://www.caida.org/tools/measurement/cflowd/) and FlowScan by David Plonka (http://www.caida.org/tools/utilities/flowscan/).

These logs are kept for a short period of time, and aggregate data is graphed and recorded.

CUFlow is freely available at http://www.columbia.edu/acis/networks/advanced/CUFlow/
