Networking > About the CUIT Network

CUIT maintains Columbia's 500 Mbps connection to Broadwing and 45 Mbps connection to Qwest which provide access to the commodity Internet. A 100 Mbps connection to RCN provides fast access for RCN cable modem customers. The university is also a member of NYSERNet, with a 215 Mbps Internet 2 connection via the Abilene network. Additionally, there is a 1000 Mbps connection to CERN's UltraLight network. To learn more about any of these networks, please visit the network homepages listed on the right.

Through membership on executive and technical boards, CUIT staff help shape the development of the regional network. CUIT staff members also represent the University in other national organizations devoted to technology in education.
