Wireless

Networking > Wireless

The wireless network is available to Columbia students, faculty, and staff and offers fast and reliable data connection speeds. WIreless Internet access is available inside many buildings on the Morningside campus. CUIT also offers outdoor wireless access. Coverage will improve as the wireless network grows to accommodate the entire campus.

In the summer of 2010, we expanded the wireless network to more residence halls. Please view our web page on wireless in the residence halls for information.

If you are living in University Apartment Housing, please view our documentation on using wireless in your apartment.

The wireless network offers all the computing services that the wired network does. Once you are equipped with a special PC card for your portable computer the network will be completely accessible without the restraints of a network cable and jack. Wireless users can roam throughout the coverage zones and remain connected to the network.

Network computing is no longer restricted to your residence or office. Grab your laptop and head outside!

Getting Connected

You can connect to the wireless network on the Morningside Campus by using our connection guides. Please note that you are required to have a computer that meets our support specifications.
