MATLAB is available to Columbia University affiliates for instructional use only through Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT). The release is R2007a and it runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Unix operating systems.

CUIT provides this license as a service to the Columbia community. Whenever possible, CUIT will answer questions about the installation and use of MATLAB itself, but the licensee is responsible for doing the installation and for understanding and maintaining his/her own hardware and operating system.

The limitations of this license agreement are such that copies of MATLAB purchased through this agreement are restricted to use in connection with on-campus computing facilities that are used solely in support of classroom instruction of students. The right to use the programs for any other purposes, including academic research or for commercial purposes, is expressly prohibited.
