Software > Site Licenses > MATLAB > MATLAB Classroom License Information MATLAB is available to Columbia University affiliates for instructional use only through Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT). The release is R2007a and it runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Unix operating systems. CUIT provides this license as a service to the Columbia community. Whenever possible, CUIT will answer questions about the installation and use of MATLAB itself, but the licensee is responsible for doing the installation and for understanding and maintaining his/her own hardware and operating system. The limitations of this license agreement are such that copies of MATLAB purchased through this agreement are restricted to use in connection with on-campus computing facilities that are used solely in support of classroom instruction of students. The right to use the programs for any other purposes, including academic research or for commercial purposes, is expressly prohibited. Please note that CUIT has a corresponding research license which is available. Please see the MATLAB Research License information page for details on this license. Cost and Dates The cost of the MATLAB license is $30 per machine per year (minimum purchase: 5 copies) and it includes the following toolboxes:
The valid period of the license is August 1st through July 31st. The price is fixed and will not be pro-rated. The software will not run after the license expires. New users and those wishing to upgrade to Release R2007a can purchase either a Windows or Unix CD kit for $15. How to License MATLAB
