Configuring Sent Mail

If you use the Columbia IMAP server and want to store your sent messages on the IMAP server, you will need to create a rule that will do so. The rule creates a copy of the sent message on the IMAP server.

The screen shots come from Outlook Professional 2003 - there may be some slight differences in the look and text in older versions. Please read the instructions carefully.
  1. Select Rules and Alerts... from the Tools menu. The Rules and Alerts window is displayed.
  2. Click New Rule.... The Rules Wizard window is displayed.



  3. Select the Start from a blank rule option. Under Step 1: Select when messages should be checked, select Check messages after sending. Click Next.



  4. Under Step 1: Select condition(s), click to check the uses the form name form check box.



  5. Under Step 2: Edit the rule description (click an underlined value), click on the underlined form name.
  6. The Choose Forms window is now displayed. In the drop-down menu, select Application Forms. Scroll through the resulting list of forms to select Message. With Message selected, click Add ->. Message should now be displayed under Selected Forms:. Click Close.



  7. In the Rules Wizard window, click Next.
  8. Under Step 1: Select action(s), click to check the move a copy to the specified folder check box.



  9. Under Step 2: Edit the rule description (click an underlined value), click on the underlined specified.
  10. A window with a listing of folders is now displayed. Under Choose a folder:, select the sent-mail folder under Columbia IMAP. Click OK.

    Tips: The sent-mail folder is the default folder that messages sent in CubMail are stored. If you do not see sent-mail or would like to keep your sent messages in a different folder, select another folder.




  11. In the Rules Wizard window, click Next.
  12. The next Rules Wizard is displayed. Click Next.
  13. Under Step 1: Specify a name for this rule, enter a name for this rule.
  14. Under Step 2: Setup rule options, make sure that Turn on this rule is checked. Click Finish.



  15. In the Rules and Alerts window, click OK.
