PuTTY

Software > Terminal Software > PuTTY

PuTTY is an easy-to-use telnet and SSH program for Windows developed by Simon Tatham. CUIT recommends PuTTY for connecting to Pine and the CUNIX servers and other telnet/SSH hosts over the internet. Please download your copy here. It comes pre-configured to connect to Columbia's Cunix hosts.

Download and Installation
(Current faculty, staff, and students of Columbia University and its affiliates are eligible to download.)
  1. Download the installer (required UNI login):
     PuTTY for Windows v0.60 (623KB)
  2. Save the installer to your hard drive, and make a note of the folder that you saved it in.
  3. Run the installer.
  4. Required: Configure PuTTY for Columbia.
Upgrading from the Previous Version
  • To upgrade PuTTY, please follow the download and installation instructions above.
