Key Considerations
  • Developer no longer offers support for the product.
Refer to Microsoft Product Life Cycle
  • Substantial Decrease in the number of support requests to the Client Service Center.
  • Compatibility conflicts with University services or other software.
  • Availability and training of support staff
Process for Terminating a Once-Supported Product
  • Announced as a "Support Alert" on our Support pages, one semester prior to it's date of demise.
  • Existing documentation will be made available in clearly identified archive locations.
  • A course of action will be recommended for users who are still using the retired software. This would include upgrading to more current version. As we do not support upgraded Operating Systems, we will recommend purchase of a newer system if support will be needed from CUIT.
  • Users will be directed to online vendor resources, if available.
