We recommend wireless service from AT&T and Verizon Wireless. Our design technicians will assist you with your carrier choice based on where you work and live, and on the type of equipment you are requesting. The prices and plans below apply only to CUIT-provided equipment and service. To inquire about your personal wireless needs, please contact the Purchasing Department. Back to Top PDAsTreo The Treo allows you to send and receive email through the cellular network. In addition to checking for your email automatically, the Treo lets you request email on demand. Your email stays secure on the Columbia servers and is sent securely as well. With the Treo, you can take your calendar, contact lists, and task lists with you wherever you go and it will synchronize with both Windows and Macintosh computers. email attachments may be viewed, created, and modified. Additional software is available for added functionality. Built-in features such as a telephone, camera or a voice recorder/mp3 player are also available on certain models. With this service you can:

As with other new wireless devices, CUIT will test the hardware and software once it's available to us to reach a support decision. Assuming a successful test period and equipment availability, we hope to be able to offer the iPhone 3g by September 2008. We regret we are unable to support personally purchased wireless devices, so if you are interested in switching your CUIT issued wireless device to an iPhone, please allow us time to conduct the proper testing. Now you can connect your laptop to the cellular data network, surf the web and check your e-mail while on the go. These devices are great for commuters, travelers, and anyone frequently on the move. If you intend to travel internationally with your broadband modem we recommend AT&T devices and service; if not Verizon is the best choice. Basic Features
The comprehensive, national plan ranges from 300 minutes to 6000 minutes per month. Your airtime plan adjusts to fit your monthly usage needs so that you are never charged at a higher usage rate.
Back to Top International ServicesAT&T is our international carrier of choice; if you have a device with AT&T service you may request activation of the international roaming feature through our office so you can use your existing device while traveling. If you have a Verizon BlackBerry 8830 you may also request international services. To add a feature like international roaming to your existing line, we will charge a $50 administrative fee. Please allow 10 business days lead time to process your request and be aware that international roaming must be activated prior to leaving the country. Please see http://www.wireless.att.com/travelguide for specifics about whether your device will work in a particular location. If you are traveling abroad and do not have an AT&T device, you can rent a cell phone or smart phone from CUIT. The current prices are listed below, and in most cases include setup of the device to access your Columbia email account. In some instances (Business School, Law School, etc?) you must contact your internal IT department to complete setup. For this reason, please submit your rental request at least 10 business days in advance. Any request submitted less than 10 business days in advance will be assessed a $200 expedite fee.
