CUIT Wireless Phone Protection
Program Details
Monthly Fee: $5.99 per month/per phone (must be added within 5 business days of purchasing the device)
Deductible: $50 for BlackBerry Bold, Storm, 8900 Curve, and Tour
Claim Limits: 1 claim per year
Replacement Equipment:
- CUIT may fulfill claims with new or remanufactured equipment
- Color and features are not guaranteed
- Our goal is to fulfill claims with the same make and model. If this is not possible,
a similar device will be substituted.
Covered Incidents: Loss; theft; physical damage: broken charging or headphone port, broken trackball, sticky keys; and water damage
Cancellation policy: You may cancel your coverage at any time
Your Responsibilities
- Report the claim of the incident to cuit-design@columbia.edu
- If the phone is lost or stolen, call the CUIT help desk at 854-1919 to suspend service and prevent unauthorized calls.
CUIT is not responsible for unauthorized calls made because you did not report your device missing.
- If the phone is lost or stolen, notify Public Safety and obtain a crime/loss report.

- Damaged or recovered lost or stolen equipment must be returned within 30 days to CUIT.
- CUIT does not cover the cost to research, replace, or restore data, or programs non-standard for the make and model.
- CUIT will not repair/replace cosmetic damages; cracking, scratching, or other change in the exterior finish.
