CUIT NetPhone Service
CUIT NetPhone Service
Columbia University Information Technology (CUIT) is now
deploying NetPhone Service to clients in the Studebaker building in
Manhattanville. This service uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
technology to transmit voice communications over data networks.
Using a single network for voice and data transmission eliminates the
need to manage two separate networks.
By November 2007, approximately 450 Columbia University staff members
will be using CUIT NetPhones in their Studebaker offices. Long term
plans to replace all 20,000 existing Rolm phones on the Morningside
campus are in the works.
Some of you have inquired about this service; please be patient as we
evaluate carefully and deploy NetPhones while assuring the highest level of
quality you expect from your telephone service.
