More NetPhone updates are scheduled for the week of May 4, 2009.

Security/Bug Fixes. A software upgrade will apply the latest vendor-provided security and bug fixes. This upgrade will have no impact on regular NetPhone service. However, people with NetPhones configured for Bridged Line Appearnace (BLA) may notice that the indicator light does not appear on their phone immediately after the upgrade. However, it should re-appear within an hour.

Distinctive Ringing. Distinctive ringing will be disabled, enabling NetPhone users to select their own ring types/tones for each extension on their phone. (Distinctive ringing was the feature which used a low trill tone for all incoming internal calls and a low double trill tone for all incoming external calls.) After the upgrade you can change your ring type by doing the following:

1. Press the Menu button on your NetPhone.
2. Select Settings, Basic, Ring Type, and then the line (extension) that you want to modify.
3. Scroll down to the particular ring type you prefer and press the Select soft key. (You can preview the ring type by pressing Play beofre you press Select.)

On April 16, 2009, all NetPhones were upgraded to SIP firmware version 3.1.2. The following features were added or changed:

• Echo Cancellation was enabled.
• A menu option was added to enable/disable headset echo cancellation.
• Scrolling status bar was enabled.
• The upgrade resolved the issue fo the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) being lit when there was no new voicemail.
• When a call is received from someone stored in your Contact Directory, your NetPhone will now display the person's name.
