First meeting between student negotiators and the administration

150 community members and students rally and march to president

Senior Exec VP Kasdin refuses to meet strikers. Another VP, Maxine
Griffiths, agrees to meet
13:
Two more students join strike. Planned meetings fail to materialize
14:
Engineering Student Council releases statement opposed to the hunger
strike. Two strikers are threatened at first with forced medical
withdrawal unless they resume eating but after protests the
administration backs down. Administration agree to demands regarding
Major Cultures and extension of the Office of Multicultural Affairs
15:
Two students cease striking. Administration refuses to consider
demands related to expansion
16:
The Coalition to Preserve Community, a West Harlem community group,
publicly urges strikers to find alternative ways of applying
pressure. All students cease striking
