As part of its commitment to equal employment opportunity and affirmative action, the University has established an Administrative Hiring Process for all applicants. An applicant is defined as one who applies for a specific position and meets the minimum posted qualifications for that position.
Hiring managers must provide gender and race/ethnicity data for all applicants. They must also provide the reason for the choice of the selectee, along with interview information. For positions in grades 10 –13/103-105, hiring managers are required to obtain verification from HR staff at their respective campuses that the selectee meets the job requirements. This verification is required and must be done prior to making an offer of employment. The process is the same for grades 7-9A, except that HR staff will confirm that all union sign-ups have been given appropriate consideration prior to the job offer.
Documentation of the hiring process—which may include completion of an Applicant Pool Report—is to be submitted along with new-hire paperwork to the appropriate HR office. An original and one copy should be submitted.
All applicants for administrative positions are required to apply on the Jobs at Columbia (JAC) online employment system. Completed JAC applications are required for all hires and must accompany the PAF and other paperwork when forwarded to HR at Morningside or The Medical Center for processing.
