The mission of Advocacy Coalition is to help our
low-income and homeless clients obtain
long-term self-sufficiency and short- term necessities,
as provided by New York City's
public and private institutions.

We accomplish this mission by:

  • Learning as much as possible about the various social services available in New York City and maintaining contact with service providers to help give our clients access to these programs.
  • Educating ourselves and our clients about their legal entitlements provided by the city, state, and federal governments, and helping our clients to understand and obtain the public services to which they are entitled.
  • Educating ourselves about the constantly changing public assistance system in New York City in order to aid and advise our clients in applying for and maintaining public benefits, in light of current welfare policies.
  • Providing information on and referrals to public and private services to which our clients would not otherwise have access.
  • Fostering professional, supportive relationships with the clients we serve and acting in our clients' best interest.

Advocacy Coalition is concerned with understanding and trying to improve the conditions of New York City's low-income and homeless residents.

We aim to provide considerate, knowledgeable, and sympathetic advocacy on behalf of our clients.
