Columbia figures prominently in the film p.s., in which Laura Linney plays a School of the Arts admissions director who takes up with an applicant (played by Topher Grace) who is the spit and image of her long-deceased boyfriend. The movie was shot over 25 days last fall at various locations on campus, including College Walk (pictured), Low Plaza, and the Rutherford Observatory atop Pupin Physics Laboratory. Helen Schulman 86SOA, the movies cowriter and author of the novel on which it was based, is a MFA graduate and a former writing instructor at the school.
