Patagonia's Majestic Fjords
February 7–22, 2005
Patagonia, South America's southernmost region, is one of the world's most spectacular landscapes. Here, the landmass along the Pacific coast is dominated by the breathtaking, ice-capped Andes Mountains, which drop straight to the sea. Lining the coast is a maze of islands creating an inside passage of fjords and twisting scenic waterways stretching for over a thousand miles. The primeval grandeur of Patagonia's mainland is no less impressive. Ice-covered volcanic peaks surround enormous lakes, and the numerous national parks teem with exotic animal and bird life endemic to the area. This February—at the height of the austral summer, when nature is at its most glorious and the shimmering southern waterways are easily traversed—travel aboard Orion, the world's finest expedition cruise ship, and discover Patagonia, a land of soaring peaks, dramatic fjords, and deep-blue glaciers.

Galapagos and Ecuador
February 25–March 5, 2005
Join us as we begin our adventure in Quito, Ecuador, where you'll learn more about Ecuador's unique past while touring the capital and its nearby environs. Your three-night stay will shed light on this vibrant UNESCO World Heritage site. Then come face-to-face with exotic wildlife species during an exciting, four-day nature cruise. Exclusively designed for Galápagos Islands cruising, the Santa Cruz carries its own fleet of versatile landing craft that can be launched at a moment's notice for island exploration. In addition, our cruise includes two landing sites—Dragon Hill (Santa Cruz Island) and Santa Fe Island—that are new to the ship's cruise route. Plus, with more in-depth visits on some of the populated islands—such as Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal—we'll gain an appreciation for the places visited and a real affinity for the native Galápagueños. Close-up encounters with animals of the Galápagos occur daily during our cruise; we'll walk, swim, and explore in small groups of guests led by naturalist guides—what a way to experience Darwin's world!

Journey of the Czars
With Professor Kenneth T. Jackson
June 24-July 6, 2005
Join Professor Kenneth T. Jackson on this 14 day cruise, sailing the
waterways of Russia from the country’s political capital of Moscow to
its cultural mecca of St. Petersburg . Enroute, enjoy the secluded
Russian countryside that borders the Volga, Svir, and Neva rivers, and
explore the country’s vast heartland. Travel beyond the reach of
conventional tourism to places such as Uglich and Yaroslavl that reflect
the authentic character of czarist Russia. On the remote Kizhi Island,
we’ll admire the 18th-century wooden Church of the Transfiguration,
built without nails. While in the great cities of Moscow and St.
Petersburg, we’ll visit famed sites such as Red Square, Kremlin, St.
Basil’s Cathedral, Petrodvorets – the spectacular summer home of Peter
the Great, and the world-renowned Hermitage Museum (with a special
pre-public hours tour). Ride the famous Metro, the city’s subway system,
with its sculptures and mosaics and learn more about the Russian
cultural heritage with visits to the ballet in St. Petersburg and the
Moscow circus.
