About Us

Who Are You?

The Columbia University Anime Club, of course. Says so at the top. We're here to bring anime to the Columbia community at large.

Anime? That Japanese Stuff?

Yep! Our big focus is Japanese animation, manga (comics), and other fun bits of Japanese pop culture. If you're not sure what kind of things we're talking about, you can try the Wikipedia article on anime as a good starting point. We don't discriminate too much about what kind of anime we show: we've shown everything from slow, dramatic things to magical girl shows to mecha to cyberpunk. Our charter covers more than just anime: in the past we've shown cool American shows like Futurama and Family Guy, movies like Waking Life, and even some weird French rotoscoped cinema at that one meeting.

How Do I Join?

Just come to a meeting! There aren't any complicated rituals or stupid fees involved. If you want to know when the next meeting is, check out the schedule or sign up to our mailing list. To sign up, send an email to majordomo@columbia.edu with the text: 'subscribe anime-list' as the only line in the email. The mailing list gets weekly notices from the president or treasurer, letting everyone know about any changes plans. You can consider it the official authority on what is going on with the club.
