About Us
CU APAHM (Asian Pacific American Heritage Month) commits itself to organizing a wide range of programs for the
month of April, Columbia’s Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, in order to bring broader awareness of the Asian
American/ APIA community and its rich history to campus. Every year, APAHM’s events all take place during April,
which is APA Heritage Month here at Columbia. During that month, APAHM celebrates the culture, investigates the
issues, and showcases the talents of Asian Pacific Islander Americans within and beyond our community.
The APAHM 2015 theme is THREADS
Figurative and material threads represent the narratives of Asian Pacific Americans from the past to present. The weaving of these individual threads into a unified piece of fabric reveal the intricacy of APIA relationships and history. Each distinctive thread plays an important role; the absence of one leads to the unraveling of others. This April, APAHM will weave personal stories into “mosaics” displaying the diversity of APIA issues and cultures.
