Biography
Richard Brilliant was educated in Classics at Yale, in Law at Harvard, and in Art History at Yale, and spent many years living in Rome and visiting Greek and Roman sites/monuments/museums throughout the Mediterranean and in Western Europe. Author of many books, articles, and reviews on aspects of Greek and Roman art, especially the latter, in recent years, motivated by broad historiographical interests, his work has concentrated on topics such as visual narrative, portraiture, interpretation, and problems of style. He still writes with a mechanical typewriter and has no e-mail.
