Biography
Personal web page My work has been following two paths over the last years. One direction considers issues of gender in Greek and Roman art, especially as it operates on public monuments, whereas the other direction engages with imagery and style in the military monuments of the Roman provinces. The projects I'm working on at the moment are the completion of a book about gender and Roman public monuments, a paper about style in the military relief sculpture of Hadrian's Wall in Britain and the Antonine Wall in Scotland, and a paper about the relationship of the imperial titles pater and parens to visual imagery in Roman reliefs. As I write this, I'm on my way for spring break to Tunisia where my graduate students in Art History and Classical Studies will explore Roman monuments in the northern third of the country.
