Karen Fairbanks is currently the Chair of the Architecture Department. She has been teaching in the undergraduate architecture department since 1988, teaching a range of courses including design studios and ntroductory lecture courses. Her practice, Marble Fairbanks Architects, specializes in institutional and residential work with an interest in the integration of digital technology into design and production. Recently the firm won a competition for a new elementary school in Chicago. They are also currently researching “New Media and the Design of Teaching Environments” sponsored by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts.
