The DMC staff come to the Columbia Community from a variety of backgrounds, each poised to make their unique contributions to current and future initiatives at the convergence of art and technology.
Cecil Matthai Esquivel-Obregón
Director of Post-Production for Film
Cecil Matthai Esquivel-Obregón graduated from MIT, and worked at Harvard University at the Film Study Center before completing his MFA in Film at Columbia University.
Cecil is an artist, computer scientist, filmmaker, environmentalist, quite possibly a buddhist, and is open to any ideas on helping us not destroy everything we care about on this planet. At the same time, he's helping Columbia University School of the Arts film students make the best use of digital technology to accomplish their vision as directors, writers, editors, and cinematographers. He is intent on narrowing the gap between imagination and expression.
Graeme White
Coordinator for Visual Arts
Graeme White has been working at Columbia for the past 2 years as the DMC Coordinator for Visual Arts. He specializes in real-time digital media, networks and digital printing, as well as supporting the SoA arts network. Prior to this he built labs and ran the Visual Arts network for SUNY Purchase. Trained as a Sound Engineer, he worked in London Recording studios for several years then moved to Switzerland as International Product Manager for major Digital Audio Workstations.
Peter Vaughan
Manager of Post-Production Services for Film
Peter Vaughan studied Dramatic Writing at The Theater School at DePaul University and Film at Hunter College. He is a writer, filmmaker, philosopher and Father. Films he has worked on have appeared at CUNY College Film Festival, The Avignon/New York Film Festival, Terror Film Festival, (Philadelphia), The Long Island International Film Expo, Dusk til' Dawn Film Festival (Houston, TX) among others. As a commerical editor his clients have inculded BMW, Disney, Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens, Nintendo and Delilah Films.
