Columbia Badminton Team

Team Practices

Team Practices are every Sunday @ Barnard LeFrak Gym and are mandatory for all team members.

For practice sessions with the coaching staff, the practice is roughly structured as follows:
- 6:30 to 7 PM: Warmup
- 7 to 9 PM: Training
- 9 to 10 PM: Practice (optional)

For practice sessions without the coaching staff:
- 6 to 7 PM: Warmup
- 7 to 8 PM: Optional Drills
- 8 to 10 PM: Practice (required)

Team members can only miss two team practices, unless for signed medical reasons or emergencies.

Required General Club Practice Attendance

Team members need to attend at least 50% of a semester's open club practices (Monday and Friday).

Team Dues

There is a $50 semesterly due for the team. This covers coaching, court rentals, shuttlecocks, competition fees, as well as subsidized travel costs.

Intercollegiate Competitions

The team competes against other schools, both on the road and at home. In the 2010-2011 year, we competed against Penn, Princeton, Drexel, NYU, and other schools. This year, we aim to compete against even more schools including potentially teams from Asia!

Team vs. Club

The competition team represents Columbia Badminton club sports at competitions. While the general club is open to all Columbia affiliates, the team has a tryout process to join.
