Students are guaranteed the grade shown if they achieved the indicated final score. These guidelines have remained the same for the last several years.
Final grades are calculated on the basis of all four exams and either:
1) Dropping the lowest of the first 3 exams, OR
2) Counting exam 4 with a 50% weight and the lowest of the first 3 exams with a 50% weight. For example, if the 4 grades were 90, 80, 100 and 50, then the final score would be 90+(0.5*80)+100+(0.5*50) = 90+40+100+25 = 255. This method lessens the effect of doing poorly on exam 4, while retaining the necessity of studying for exam 4.
The highest score of the two methods will be used.
A+, D and F grades are given on a case-by-case basis.
