Why does Vmax remain constant in competitive inhibition? Because you can always keep increasing the substrate concentration until the amount of inhibitor can't effectively compete, it's as if
there were no inhibitor present. So the V reaches V max at this point, as the enzyme is saturated with substrate. It's just that you have to add a lot more substrate to get to this point if the inhibitor is present.
