Textbooks

Some students prefer the more basic Life, while others like the technical detail in World of the Cell, which is why we continue to list both books as appropriate for this course.  For those using earlier editions of these texts, you can find an approximation of the readings in these texts by looking at the 4th edition of Becker on the Schedule for Spring 2002 and the 5th edition of Purves on the Schedule for Spring 2001.  But keep in mind that we do tinker with the syllabus a bit each year, so the readings are probably not exactly the same.

We can put course information on a website like that used last semester, or we could put everything on Courseworks, the website used by several other Columbia courses. Do you have a preference?
