This website contains all the documents and files generated by the Petilla Interneuron Nomenclature Meeting. The "Petilla Convention" took place on October 6-10th, 2005 in Petilla de Aragon, Navarra, Spain, the birthplace of Santiago Ramon y Cajal. The goal of the convention was to standardize the nomenclature of different features of neocortical interneurons. A second goal was to arrive at a unified classification of interneurons.

The classification documents are the basis of the effort of the committee on classification of interneurons, elected at Petilla. This committee is composed by J. DeFelipe, G. Tamas, H. Markram, G. Buzsaki, S. Anderson and A. Burkhalter, with G. Ascoli as coordinator. Please contact them if you have any input about the classification effort or the creation of databases of interneurons. This committee will generate a final document that will be submitted for publication and endorsement. |
