Lewis M. Brown, Ph.D. (University of Toronto, Canada in Plant Biochemistry/Biophysics)
Position: Center Director
Lewis Brown is responsible for scientific leadership, mentoring staff, interacting with collaborators, planning and implementing research projects, developing grant proposals and publications, and all other aspects of the center operation. Dr. Brown provides both scientific and organizational leadership and is responsible for initiating new collaborations to be done in the center.

Alex W. Rookyard, Ph.D. (University of Sydney, Australia in Life Sciences,)
Position: Center Associate Director and Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Dr. Rookyard brings expertise in mass spectrometry through his experience in exploring the changes in cysteine redox PTMs and the adaptations of metabolism in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion and diabetic cardiomyopathy. At the QPMC, he has assumed a leadership role in the mass spectrometry and data analysis pipelines. conducted large-scale proteomics projects in Alzheimer's disease, immunopeptidomics and several other important projects
Karl A.T. Makepeace, Ph.D. in Biochemistry (University of Victoria, B.C., Canada)
Position: Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Dr. Makepeace is an experienced researcher specializing in advanced structural proteomic techniques to investigate protein structure, dynamics, and interactions. He has technical experience operating mass spectrometers and proficiency in software development for implementing data analysis workflows. At QPMC, he leverages his expertise in advanced mass spectrometry to conduct protein profiling and integrate cutting-edge proteogenomic analyses into our platform capability.

Lipi Das, Ph.D. in Life Sciences (Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research, and Education in Cancer (ACTREC-TMC), Navi Mumbai, India)
Position: Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Dr. Das brings strong research experience in proteomics and interest in translational biology and implementing these techniques for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes. At QPMC, Dr. Das is using high resolution mass spectrometry for proteomics and is involved in several projects with potential for high impact.

David Scott Johnson, M.A. in Biotechnology (Columbia University)
Position: Research Staff Assistant
David Johnson supports sample processing far mass spectrometry in proteomics. He also participates in all aspects of lab activities and has a central role in maintaining inventories of supplies and equipment parts. David has an important role in mass spectrometry data analysis and supports quality control measurements for the analytical pipeline. 

Davey Liu, (Columbia University, School of General Studies Undergraduate Student)
Position: Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow (SURF)
Davey Liu was a recipient of a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship at Columbia University. This successful project was on proteomic analysis of monkey cervix during pregnancy as a model system to study cervix remodeling and its relation to preterm birth. 

Jayanta Chakrabarty Ph.D. (University of Texas at Arlington in Analytical Chemistry)
Position in QPMC while at Columbia: Associate Research Scientist
Current Position: Senior Scientist, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Dr. Chakrabarty brought expertise in mass spectrometry through his experience in global discovery of protein-protein interactions. He was involved in many large-scale proteomics at QPMC and co-authored several publications.

Anu Jain, Ph.D. (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India)
Position in QPMC while at Columbia: Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Current Position: Postdoctoral Research Scientist, Mayo Clinic
Dr. Jain brought expertise in proteomics and cancer biology. She worked to understand physiological and pathological changes in disease processes using high resolution mass spectrometry and proteomics and was involved in  projects with potential for high impact in cancer biology and other areas.

Emily G. Werth, Ph.D. (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Analytical Chemistry)
Position in QPMC while at Columbia:  Center Associate Director
Current Position: Principal Scientist DMPK, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Dr. Werth brought expertise in phosphorylation analysis and other areas of quantitative proteomics. She led the effort in that area with applications to ferroptosis and other biological processes in cells and tissues, and also participated in a variety of projects in basic science, clinical, and translational research, with four publications from her work.

Fereshteh Zandkarimi, Ph.D. (Oregon State University in Analytical Chemistry)
Position while working at QPMC: Lipidomics Platform Director
Current Position: Lead, Mass Spectrometry Core Facility, Department of Chemistry, Columbia University
Dr. Zandkarimi brought expertise in mass spectrometry for lipidomics and metabolomics. She led efforts with application to ferroptosis and other biological processes in cells and tissues. Dr. Zandkarimi collaborated on a variety of projects in basic science, and is co-author of several  publications in the refereed scientific literature arising out of her work at QPMC
Chuannng Tang, Ph.D. (Beijing Normal University in Cell Biology/Proteomics and Bioinformatics)
Position in QPMC while at Columbia: Postdoctoral Bioinformatics Research Scientist and Programmer
Current Position: Associate Professor, Hainan Medical University, Key lab of Tropical Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Tang brought expertise in bioinformatics, proteomics and genomics and computational biology. Her efforts enhanced data analysis in metabolomics and proteomics and contributed to efforts in data interpretation in many important projects including two published papers.


Shahar Goeta, B.S. (Yeshiva University, NY in Chemistry, MEng Columbia University, Environmental Engineering)
Position in QPMC while at Columbia: Staff Associate
Current Position: Controls Engineer / Project Manager Dual Fuel, New York
Mr. Goeta brought expertise in chemistry to sample preparation for proteomics and metabolomics. He had a leading role in gas chromatography/mass spectrometry for metabolomics in operation, maintenance and data analysis.

Hemanth Akkiraju, Ph.D. (University of Delaware in Biological Sciences)                                                                                                                                        
Position in QPMC while at Columbia: Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Current Position: Scientist, In vitro Biology at WuXi AppTec
Dr. Akkiraju came to us with training in cell/molecular biology and cell signal pathway analysis. While at the QPMC, he trained in mass spectrometry and quantitative proteomics. He participated in research projects in quantitative proteomics, structural biology and phophoproteomics.  Dr. Akkiraju was co-author of three publications in the refereed scientific literature arising out of his work at QPMC.


Shujuan Tao McDonald, Ph.D. (University of Georgia in Analytical Chemistry)
Position in QPMC while at Columbia: Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Current Position: Development Chemist at Sanofi-Aventis
Dr. Tao is an accomplished mass spectrometrist and played an important role in performing mass spectrometry, sample preparation, data analysis, interpretation in support of quantitative proteomics using nanoflow LC/MS/MS systems. She contributed to many important projects in the lab including one paper that has been published.

David Chen, B.S. (Stony Brook University in Biochemistry, summa cum laude), M.D (Stony Brook University )
Position in QPMC while at Columbia: Research Staff Assistant
Current Position: Physician, Stony Brook, New York
Dr. Chen came to use after finishing his undergraduate degree. He worked for us in sample preparation for mass spectrometry in support of proteomics and metabolomics. Dr. Chen was intensively involved with processing of mass spectrometry data for proteomics and metabolomics, and supported our graduate course in proteomics.

Ryan Colligan, B.A. (Western Connecticut State University in Chemistry, cum laude) (D.O. in Osteopathy, Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine)
Position in QPMC while at Columbia: Research Staff Assistant
Current Position: Resident Physician, Eastern Connecticut Health Network
Dr. Colligan came to us after finishing his undergraduate degree in chemistry. He prepared samples for mass spectrometry and operated the MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer. Dr. Colligan was intensively involved with processing of mass spectrometry data for proteomics, and supported our graduate course in proteomics.  Dr. Colligan was co-author of four publications in the refereed scientific literature arising out of his work at QPMC.
