 | I am originally from Racine, WI, and I did my undergrad in biology at MIT. I worked in Professor Frank Gertler’s lab as both a student and as a technician following my graduation in 2008. With postdoc Elaine Pinheiro, I worked on a project in cortical development. Using in utero electroporation, we studied the effect of knockdown of the molecule Lamellipodin, a cytoskeletal interactor, on the embryonic mouse brain. I am strongly considering focusing on neurobiology at Columbia, but I would like to experiment with other areas of biology during at least one of my rotations.
Outside of school and lab, I have always been very into music. I’ve played classical piano since age 5 and violin since 9, and I played in the MIT Symphony Orchestra for all four of my years as an undergrad. I also love to read, spend time with friends, and sit in coffee shops. Fortunately for me, these things are cheap and can be done simultaneously. (insert text here) |
