 | I received my B.S. in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Bogazici University in Spring 2006. In Fall 2004, I studied as an exchange student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My research interest is molecular biology of cancer with a focus on cell cycle control, DNA replication, checkpoint, repair and the role of Wnt signaling in tumorigenesis. In respect to molecular biology of cancer, I did an internship at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School under the supervision of Dr. Sandra Orsulic in Summer 2005 and when I studied at UNC, I voluntarily worked in Prof. Aziz Sancar’s lab on replication checkpoint. I will take the opportunity to improve my knowledge on these research topics as well as laboratory skills and I aim to contribute to research conducted at Columbia University.
I grew up in Istanbul. I enjoy living in a metropole because I can participate in various social and cultural events. As for my hobbies, in addition to life sciences, I like sailing, swimming, all kinds of music –especially classical French, Spanish, Italian songs- and Latin Dance, particularly Salsa. I also enjoy being involved in the organization of events as I was a member of the organization committee of the Ballroom Dance Festival and in the executive committee of our Sailing Team at Bogazici University. Finally, I like going to theater. I am excited to watch musicals at Broadway! |
