I grew up in Chicago and did my undergraduate studies at
Colby College in Waterville, ME, but I remain a Midwesterner at heart. During college, I majored in chemistry with a
concentration in biochemistry and cell & molecular biology.
After graduating from college, I worked as a research
assistant both at Northwestern University and at Exosome Diagnostics, a
biotech. During my time at Northwestern,
I studied a novel non-coding RNA involved in the development and migration of
neurons. At Exosome, I worked on
creating non-invasive diagnostic assays for cancer. Both of these research experiences have
shaped my current research interests in molecular biology, but I am eager to
try out new areas and new model organisms as a part of Columbia's diverse research
When I'm not in the lab, I am most likely either enjoying a
cheap meal at a restaurant or taking a long run. I am excited to explore New York and make new
friends at Columbia!
