 | I was born and raised in Silicon Valley, California, where the skies are blue and the hills are (sometimes) green. I went to the University of California Los Angeles, and received a B.S. in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. At UCLA I spent a year volunteering in a lab studying a novel protein phosphatase expressed in the heart tissue of mice with high blood pressure.
Upon Graduating from UCLA in the Fall of 2009, I began a full-time position at a small gene synthesis company, where I synthesized and cloned countless genes into various custom and commercially available vectors. Troubleshooting, process development, and scaling were a major part of my work, as well as creating and managing a basic order tracking system.
Other interesting facts: I worked briefly at Google as a recruiting coordinator. I am an avid cyclist (road and mountain), and recreational runner. I am also a graduate of NOLS Alaska backpacking, and prior to moving to New York in summer 2011, I had never been to the east coast.
I am endlessly excited to explore everything New York and Columbia have to offer!
