Guy Amster
Graduate Student

Born and raised in Israel, I received a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the Hebrew University in 2006. I worked in algorithmic research for several years, mainly in the field of security, and co-founded an algo-trading start-up along the way. Finally, I returned to the Hebrew University to complete a Master's degree in Mathematics. My thesis project was in the Sella lab, in the field of population genetics.

I'm interested in evolutionary genetics, and in general in the interface between biology, statistics and computer science.

I love spending time outdoors - especially hiking and running. My last long hike was in the french alps (700 km). I'm excited to start here at Columbia, to get to know the city, and I hope to find some nice hikes around here.
