I grew up in Lakeville, MA and went to college at Boston University. I graduated in 2000 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. After graduation I moved to San Francisco to work in software development for a microarray-based company. I stayed in California for a little over a year but decided I enjoyed life a little better on the East coast. For the past few years I have been living in Hoboken and working in Lawrence Shapiro’s lab on structural genomics as part of the New York Structural Genomics Research Consortium. I’ve learned a great deal about x-ray crystallography and protein structure while in the Shapiro lab. I hope to be able to focus on my interests in both protein structure and bioinformatics while at Columbia University. Other hobbies and interests include football, movies, swimming, and skiing.
