 | As an undergraduate I studied at Rutgers University where I majored in Biotechnology with a concentration in microbiology. My research as an undergraduate involved studying Sulfolobus solfataricus, a hyperthermophilic and acidophilic archaeon. Specifically, I studied changes in gene expression that Sulfolobus experiences when it is exposed to copper ions. This study involved the used of both reverse transcriptase and real time PCR and microarrays. Through my research I became very interested in molecular biology and plan to feed this interest as a Ph.D. candidate at Columbia University. However, with all of the fascinating research going on at Columbia there is no telling where my research may take me in the next five years.
Born and raised in New Jersey I always loved visiting New York City and look forward to living there and experiencing everything the city has to offer. I especially enjoy the smaller, more intimate music venues the city has to offer that really allow you to appreciate the music that you are listening too. Aside for research and music, my interests include traveling, camping, outdoor sports, fitness, reading, and food/cooking. |
