I’ve just graduated from the University of California,
Irvine. As an undergraduate, I researched under Dr. Sheryl Tsai in the field of
protein crystallography. My major project was crystallizing p53R2, a
p53-inducible small subunit of ribonucleotide reductase (RR). My research had
implications for pharmaceutical and cancer research. While, my current interests
lie in structural biology and protein enzymology, I’d like to expand my
horizons and conduct research in another field. Classes in my senior year have raised
my interest in cell, cancer, immunology, and molecular biology. I see my
first-year rotations as a way to explore other avenues of research that I’ve
perhaps overlooked during my undergraduate education.
Moving to New York has been quite an adjustment, but I’m
very happy to be here. I look forward to making new friends and connections. Outside
the realm of academia, my hobbies include photography, digital arts, going to
the theater, watching TV and movies, and hanging out with friends.
