Shulian Shang
Graduate Student

I was born in Longkou, a seaside city in northern China. Then I moved to Dongying with my family, where I grew up by the side of the Yellow River. Influenced by my parents, who are both chemistry teachers, I got interested in chemistry as a middle-school student.  Later I found biology more interesting to me, so I took up the study of biology in college.

Now my research interest is in structural biology. I hope to elucidate the structural mechanisms by which proteins perform their function. Neurobiology also appeals to me because the brain remains a profound mystery in basic ways. In my spare time, I enjoy sports, films, reading, music and making friends.
