Stephanie Terese Lawry
Graduate Student

I was born and raised in the San Francisco bay area and attended UC Davis for my undergraduate degree in animal biology. At UC Davis, I began working in a lab dealing with zebrafish genetics, which quickly became the highlight of my experience there. My main research project focused the gene cyp19a1a, which is involved in zebrafish sex determination. I hope to continue deciphering genetic pathways, but I wouldn't be surprised to end up studying something else, as there are many areas of biology that fascinate me.

In regards to my personal interests, I have a passion for variety so I'm always switching things up, from the type of music I listen to, the shows I watch, the books I read, the food I cook, the toothpaste I use... I'm generally open to trying new things, and I'm excited to experience what I can while I can. That being said, there are a few things that I tend to fall back to, such as making digital art, playing video games, and hiking through mossy forests (I'm going to miss the redwoods while I'm here).
