 | I graduated from Oberlin College with a BA in neuroscience in 1998. Since then I have been working in industry on drug discovery projects primarily involving pharmacology and behavior in mice. Most recently I have been involved in a robotics project where computer vision and data mining tools were used to automate the classification of behavior and prediction of CNS drug activity.
My interests still revolve around neuroscience but I am currently looking to broaden my horizons and expertise in biology. While I plan on maintaining a neuroscience focus, pharmacology is not a path I will continue to explore exclusively. I would like to delve into the modulation of neural connectivity, transmitter release, (and, of course, neurogenesis), in an effort to ultimately bring more accuracy and precision to pharmacological treatments of CNS disorders. That said, after years of working in industry I find myself in a very "plastic" mode and I am looking forward to taking in the breadth of the biological sciences program before I focus on a project. |
